Founded in 1899, the Surrey Walking Club made an unfortunate choice of emblem - the swastika, an ancient symbol of good fortune - shown here on this certificate to Mr W J Harris, who walked 3 miles in 31 minutes and 43 seconds on 1st September 1937.
