Loading History...

Small leatherbound Prayer Book, dating from 1828 appearing to have belonged originally to Caralyne Fox of Bodham Norfolk and listing her ten children with James Rook (including two Jonathan's born two years apart suggesting the death in infancy of the older child, and two Eliza's, listing the infant death of the elder Eliza) . The birth of James Rook is listed later in the register, as well as the dates of three marriages.

The Bible lists in a later hand the death of George Edward Rook "the last of the Rook Family".

The Bible lists the address of Jonathan Rook as "Swanton Novers, Norfolk".

The Bible itself is small and well bound though the front board and initial leaves are detached. The Bible includes two small inserts - a Calendar leaf from December 24 containing a small religious message and a later Christmas Card sent from Fakenham in Norfolk.

The back boards contain pencil scribblings from a child that appear to be contemporary to the Bible.
