Is anyone able to suggest what may be going on in this Victorian Carte de Visite which I estimate dates to the 1850s (click for larger image) ? I’ve enhanced the contrast but posted the original scan below too. It’s a group of village musicians outside an Inn, but what is the name of the Inn? And is that a decoration hanging above or just a part of a tree. I can see a large drum and some brass instruments, but what is the chap in the middle holding? Any thoughts, suggestions or insights greatfully received!
